Down By the Water

Site Specific Installation, Wheatpasted Screenprints, Text
…Till that her garments, heavy with their drink,
Pull'd the poor wretch from her melodious lay
To muddy death.
Down by the Water combines imagery of water plants with excerpts from Hamlet and with text pulled from traditional and contemporary Murder Ballads.
My installations consist of multiple components that can be rearranged and assembled in response to the space. Using imagery that is based on natural forms allows the piece to grow in a viral way.
I enjoy the process of combing through old books, searching for words, phrases and imagery. Sometimes I am looking for specific words and sometimes the right words find me. To me, the installations are essentially books.
